Annals of the ICRP Vol. 21/4

Edited By
  • . International Commission on Radiological Protection

The Commission's new radiation protection recommendations were developed to take into account new biological information related to the detriment associated with radiation exposures and supersede the earlier recommendations in Publication 26. Adoption of the recommendations necessitates a revision in the Commission's secondary limits contained in Publication 30. In order to permit immediate application of these new recommendations, new values of the Annual Limits on Intake which incorporate the new dose limits, radiation weighting factors, and tissue weighting factors and the metabolic and biokinetic information from Publication 30 have been calculated eventually a complete revision of Publication 30 will be issued taking into account a new respiratory tract model, a new reference man report, and new biokinetics models.

Audience
For regulatory and advisory agencies at regional, national and international levels; management bodies with responsibilities for radiological protection in their own operations; professional staff used as advisers; and individuals who have to make decisions about the use of ionizing radiation.
