Open access
We recognize that access to quality research is vital to the scientific community and beyond. For us this means providing support and the latest tools to maintain the quality and integrity of published scientific literature, achieving the widest dissemination of content, and embracing the opportunities of open access. We will continue to identify access gaps, and work towards ensuring that everyone has access to quality scientific content anytime, anywhere.
Elsevier encourages active engagement and discussions about access. We are investing our resources in developing new initiatives, expanding our open access and other access initiatives, and in developing our polices. For feedback and queries please contact universalaccess@elsevier.com.
With best wishes,

Commitment to quality
Access to content is only one part of our duty to the research community. Ensuring quality content within our journals allows the broader community not only to read the latest research but trust that it is factual, original and of the highest ethical standard.
The peer review process is the established method to evaluate the quality of science. We recognise though that there are shortcomings, and sometimes even frustrations, associated with the traditional manuscript submission and peer review processes. Our aim is to help facilitate and develop fast, effective and truly innovative solutions to improve the overall manuscript submission and peer review process for all individuals concerned.
We actively:
- Innovate in our peer review processes, through new services such as the manuscript transfer service which is currently running in the Physics, Immunology and Pharma Sciences communities.
- Speed up permissions to facilitate faster publication with quick permission processing.
- Detect and correct plagiarism and fraud in our publications.
- Extract insights across articles via text mining and bibliometric tools, for example to map institutional and national research strengths to support strategic decision-making and funding.
