Benefits
of Publishing
Reduced
publication times
Elsevier online Editorial
System (EES) enhances the productivity of scientists, researchers and
practitioners by reducing publication times and decreasing workload per
articles. The average time between article submission and acceptance
for publication has dropped from 26 to 17 weeks. Editor handling time
has also been reduced by 25% which means that on average, editors
handle 20-30% more papers in the same amount of time.

Early
online availability of citable articles
Once a manuscript has been accepted it will appear on ScienceDirect as
an article in press with a fully citable Digital Object
Identifier number (DOI), the electronic alternative to traditional
references.
Publishing neutrality and independence
Elsevier, as a commercial publisher, is independent from governments,
lobby groups and other stakeholders in the discourse of science. This
ensures independence and publisher neutrality and continues to build
upon a long tradition of publishing.
Liberal
copyright policies
Significant rights are granted or retained by Elsevier journal authors
with respect to use of their own work. Without charge or the need to
request permission from Elsevier, journal authors have the right to:
•
Make copies (print or electronic) of their articles for classroom
teaching or for colleagues (non-commercial purposes only)
• Post a pre-print version on internet websites
• Post a revised personal version of the final text of the
article on their personal or institutional website, with a link to the
DOI published article (non-commercial purposes only)
• Present the article at a meeting or conference and
distribute copies to delegates
• Retain patent and trademark rights to any process described
in the article
• Include their article in a thesis or dissertation
• Incorporate their article in a printed compilation of their
own works
• Prepare derivative works with acknowledgement of its
original publication in the journal.
Digital
archiving
As a result of investing over $40 million to scan and digitize
backfiles of Elsevier journals, all Elsevier’s Cognitive
Science journals are now accessible online via ScienceDirect
