Biological Conservation – Call for Systematic Reviews
Biological Conservation is seeking submission of manuscripts reporting on the outcomes of systematic reviews on the effectiveness of conservation interventions or the impacts of human activities on biodiversity.
A systematic review follows an explicit methodology for critically appraising evidence on the effectiveness or impact of an intervention. It follows preset criteria for maximising data capture and minimising bias. It discriminates between studies on the basis of methodological quality and seeks to synthesise datasets (qualitative or
quantitative) and may use meta-analytical techniques to increase statistical power. Conclusions contain a statement on the effectiveness of the intervention or extent of impact and an assessment of the statistical uncertainty surrounding that statement.
More background to systematic reviews, including guidelines, can be viewed at www.environmentalevidence.org. Systematic review is a transparent, open and objective process and anyone considering undertaking a review is advised to contact Andrew Pullin (a.s.pullin@bangor.ac.uk) at an early stage.

Science of the Total Environment - Call for Papers in Environmental Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology
The field of nanotechnology is developing at rapid pace and already becoming a major force of modern economy. However, while this is a tremendous business and technology opportunity, there are many uncertainties about the environmental implications of nanotechnology. The behaviour, characteristics, and the transformation of nano-materials, both engineered and naturally occurring, have great ecological implications.
The Science of Total Environment is interested in providing the scientific community a common venue for the dissemination of results dealing with the environmental implications and applications of this new technology. For topics of interest and more information, go to the journal homepage.
Authors should follow the manuscript format of the Science of Total Environment as described. Any potential authors who have any additional questions regarding manuscript submissions can contact Associate Editor, C. P. Huang (huang@ce.udel.edu).
