“Lead story” from Environmental Research
One of the this year’s papers in Environmental Research titled “Understanding international crime trends: The legacy of preschool lead exposure” by Rick Nevin (Volume 104, Issue 3, July 2007), continues to generate top level media interest in the U.K and the U.S. Since the paper was quoted in a major article in The Washington Post in July, several articles in USA Today also covered this same subject. Also, the author has been interviewed for the Brant Park Project, a well-known U.S. National Public Radio news programme.

Do you know your own h-index? New feature in Scopus!
During the recent November release, Scopus announced a new, simple metric that enhances the evaluation of an author from 1996 to present. The h-index helps put the author’s career into context and provides visual aids that make the metric transparent.
The h-index (highly cited index) was developed by Professor J. Hirsch, University of California, San Diego, to qualify the impact and quantity of an individual’s research performance. Research has shown that the h-index correlates with citation counts, impact factors, publication counts and peer-evaluation of research impact and quality.
