Environmental Impact Assessment Review:
A Comparison of Carbon Calculators
A Comparison of Carbon Calculators
By J. Paul Padgett, Anne C. Steinemann, James H. Clarke, Michael P. Vandenbergh
Environmental Impact Assessment Review, Volume 28, Issues 2-3 February-April 2008, Pages 106-115
International attention to carbon dioxide emissions is turning to an individual's contribution, or “carbon footprint.” Calculators that estimate an individual's CO2 emissions have become more prevalent on the internet. Even with similar inputs, however, these calculators can generate varying results, often by as much as several metric tons per annum per individual activity. This paper examines the similarities and differences among ten US-based calculators.

Ecological Indicators welcomes Short Note articles
Authors submitting papers on the application of existing indicators or indicator systems are invited to send their articles in the form of a Short Note article. This will shorten the reviewing process and will ensure quicker publication times.
Papers focussing on demonstrations, tests or minor methodological improvements on the basis of regional investigations as well as condensed articles on new topics concerning ecological indication are suitable articles to be submitted in the format of short note articles. The papers should not exceed the length of ten manuscript pages, including figures, tables and references. |

Atmosphere, Ocean and Climate Dynamics
An Introductory Text
By John Marshall and R. Alan Plumb
For advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students in atmospheric, oceanic, and climate science, Atmosphere, Ocean and Climate Dynamics is an introductory textbook on the circulations of the atmosphere and ocean and their interaction, with an emphasis on global scales. It will give students a good grasp of what the atmosphere and oceans look like on the large-scale and why they look that way. The role of the oceans in climate and paleoclimate is also discussed. |
An Introduction to the Dynamics of El Nino & the Southern Oscillation
By Allan J. Clarke
Many scientists either working on the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) problem or its many applications have not been trained in both the equatorial ocean and atmospheric dynamics necessary to understand it. This book seeks to overcome this difficulty by providing a step by step introduction to ENSO, helping the upper level graduate student or research scientist to learn quickly the ENSO basics and be up to date with the latest ENSO research.
