Special Issue Publication
Selected, refereed papers from the Water Research Conference will be published in one of two Special Issues (Microbial ecology of drinking water and waste water treatment processes and Shifting paradigms in the assessment of recreational water quality. All invited speakers and poster presenters at the conference are requested to submit full manuscripts, which will be selected through the normal process of peer review. Manuscripts should be submitted at the latest by April 1st 2010.The special issues will be mailed to all conference participants following publication in 2010. |

This major international conference will target the developing interdisciplinary science themes in the interface between hydrology and other scientific disciplines, including climate change, biology, chemistry and social sciences. The Hydrology Conference 2010 (The Changing Physical and Social Environment: Hydrologic Impacts and Feedbacks) is organized by Elsevier and is supported by UNESCO and Elsevier’s Journal of Hydrology.

Harmful Algae Research mentioned in the New York Times:
A Tale of Two Flagella |
In the section “Opinionator – the exclusive online commentary from the New York Times”, New York Times columnist, Olivia Judson, describes dinoflagellate organisms, their structure and their effects on the ecological system. Harmful Algae is presented as the expert journal in the field:” Not all dinoflagellates are so helpful, however. Pick up a copy of the journal Harmful Algae, and you’ll find plenty of articles about how dangerous some dinoflagellates can be.”

Marine Chemistry’s Editor in Chief Elected AAAS Fellow |

The American Academy for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has elected Frank J. Millero as a Fellow of the AAAS. A Fellow is defined as “a member whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished.” A thought leader in the application of physical chemistry to natural waters, Millero’s work has helped to define this field of endeavor for the last four decades. Millero has been Editor-in-Chief of Marine Chemistry since 1993. |

Marine Genomics – Impact Factor in 2010 |
We are very pleased that Marine Genomics has been selected for inclusion in the ThomsonReuters database. The journal has been accepted for indexing by Thomson from its first issue in 2008, which means that the journal qualifies for a 2010 Impact Factor. This underlines both the relevance of the journal as well as the upcoming field of Marine Genomics. |
