Elsevier and Zhejiang University Press Co-Publish First Three Titles in New Partnership

Books are first works in Intelligent Systems Series

London, April 16, 2012Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the release of the first titles resulting from a co-publishing agreement with Zhejiang University Press. The books are part of the Intelligent Systems Series, a collection that includes theoretical studies, design methods, and real-world implementations and applications.

The series was officially launched today at a London Book Fair event attended by Mr. Wu Shulin, Vice Minister of China’s General Administration of Press and Publications, and Dr. Fu Qiang, President of Zhejiang University Press. Attending on behalf of Elsevier was Y.S. (Youngsuk) Chi, Chairman of Elsevier’s Management Committee and President of the International Publishers Association and Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director, Science and Technology Books, Elsevier.

The three titles are:

Advances in Intelligence and Security Informatics, by Wenji Mao and Fei-Yue Wang, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This book provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary account of advances in Intelligence and Security Informatics (ISI) along three fundamental dimensions: methodological issues in security informatics; new technological developments to support security-related modeling, detection, analysis and prediction; and applications and integration in interdisciplinary socio-cultural fields.

Service Science, Management, and Engineering: Theory and Applications, by Gang Xiong, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Zhong Liu, National University of Defense Technology; Xiwei Liu, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Fenghua Zhu, Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Dong Shen, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Both theory and applications issuesare covered in this book, which integrates a varietyof disciplines, including engineering, management,and information systems. The book includesapplications and case studies that showcase bestpractice and provide insight and guidelines to assistin building successful service systems.

Flexible Manipulators: Modeling, Analysis and Optimum Design, by Yanqing Gao, University of Arizona; Fei-Yue Wang, NUDT, Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Zhi-Quan Zhao, Assistant Professor at Wuhan Textile University, China. Flexible manipulators play a critical role in applications in a diverse range of fields, such as construction automation, environmental applications, and space engineering. This book presents analysis, data and insights that will of particular use for researchers and engineers working on the optimization and control of robotic manipulators and automation systems.
